The gardening manual was written by Trish Penny with co-authors Ember Ayala and Celeste Hefti, and with additional contributions from Blake Lineweaver.

The gardening manual was a project of the Growing Resilience Community-Based Action research project conducted in Wyomingโ€™s Wind River Indian Reservation. Included in the gardening manual is information which is specific to gardening in Wyoming. The gardening manual is designed for beginner- and intermediate-level gardeners and includes information on useful tools, tips on amending soil, choosing your seeds, planting companions, insects, common weeds, proper harvesting techniques, and so much more. There are also a variety of colorful Vegetable Cheat Sheets, which provide step-by-step guides to growing specific crops in Wyoming.

Funding for this project comes in part from the National Institute of General Medical Sciences (8 P20 GM 103432-12) of the National Institutes of Health.
