AmeriCorps NCCC joins Feeding Laramie Valley

May 9, 2018

Feeding Laramie Valley (FLV) is excited to sponsor our second AmeriCorps National Civilian Community Corps (NCCC) team this April.

AmeriCorps NCCC is a full-time, residential, team-based program for young adults, age 18-24. Members develop leadership skills and strengthen communities by completing service projects and gaining life experience.

The NCCC team, known as Blue 4, represents the Pacific Region in Sacremento, California. Before coming to Laramie, the team of 10 served in Southwest Florida working on Hurricane Irma relief work, as well as in Groveland, CA working on various environmental projects. The team has built and restored a trail, created fuel breaks for future wildfires, assisted on storm water redirection projects and cleared roughly 17 acres of land. Additionally, they have worked in elementary and middle schools teaching children about watershed and water conservation.

Blue 4 will be working with FLV for about 5 weeks. The team will assist in building new hoop houses at the FLV Farm, preparing various gardens with fencing and raised beds, and helping our partners throughout the community, as weather and time allows.

Welcome to Laramie, Blue 4!
