Notes On What We Gathered
In November the Wyoming Food Coalition (WFC) held its 6th Annual conference in Casper, Wyoming. With participants from Wyoming, Colorado, Nebraska, and Montana, producers, buyers and interested parties were able to connect and attend workshops aimed at solving distribution obstacles, food insecurity and sustainability issues, and general knowledge of ranching and farming in Wyoming.
On Thursday, Novemeber14, Feeding Laramie Valley set up a booth where we greeted guests along with 20 other local producers in the community for a Wyoming Local Food Showcase. After sampling local products such as barbecue sauce, sauerkraut, yogurt and lamb, FLV attended multiple sessions offered by the WFC. We began by attending the Farm to School, Food Production and Distribution Panel. We then attended a seminar on Local Sourcing to Feed Wyoming Neighbors, hosted by the Food Bank of Wyoming. We ended the day with a wonderful key note presentation from our very own CEO, Gayle Woodsum.
On Friday we moseyed over to Casper College for a second day full of seminars. FLV held an all-day booth sharing information on our multiple programs such as our Mobile Market and the Shares program while highlighting our Specialty Crops grants! We were able to divide and conquer and also attend the Ranching for Profit Full-Day Workshop.
The conference was a huge success and FLV was honored to be a part of it. It was a joy to meet everyone from all fields of the Wyoming food system and we are excited to continue to connect more organizations and businesses across Wyoming!
