Sarah began her journey with Feeding Laramie Valley as an AmeriCorps Vista member in April 2021 and has since become an integral part of the team and the community over the past five years, including as Director of Shares Production and Distribution. Originally from upstate New York, Sarah was drawn to Wyoming’s unique charm—its close-knit community, stunning landscapes, and the quiet seclusion of the region.
Adapting to the challenges of living at 7,200 feet—new altitude, climate, and soil—Sarah played a key role in leading the production and distribution of fresh produce through the Feeding Laramie Valley Shares Program. Throughout her time at Feeding Laramie Valley, Sarah and the Shares team reimagined the Feeding Laramie Farm, transforming it into a regenerative growing space. They experimented with new growing methods, varieties, and cover crops, ultimately producing over 5,500 pounds of fresh produce. Sarah also contributed to the growth of the Community Composting program and helped organize community events such as the Soup & Solstice and the 2025 Seed Party.
Reflecting on her AmeriCorps Vista experience, Sarah never anticipated the profound impact it would have on her life. “I’ve learned so much from the community, my coworkers, and through the work we do every day,” she shares. “It’s been humbling to witness how my perspective on food security, community action, and the challenges of high-altitude agriculture has evolved.”
Sarah also had the honor of collaborating with organizations like the Wyoming Hunger Initiative, the Wyoming Food Coalition, and beginning farmer programs nationwide, engaging in discussions about food systems change and sustainability. These experiences have been pivotal in her personal growth within agriculture.
Looking back on her five years with the community, Sarah reflects, “This community and the amazing people I have had the privileged to work alongside with have taught and given me so much. I have a deeper appreciation for the power of growing and providing food, a true understanding of community—both from the inside and out—and a renewed respect for service.”
This April, Sarah will be starting a new position as Land Access Program Manager at Poudre Valley Community Farms in Fort Collins.
Thank you, Sarah for your truly irreplaceable work in growing Feeding Laramie Valley into the vibrant organization it is today. We wish you the best of luck in all of your future endeavors; we know you’ll bring your joyful, transformative energy to creating a better world wherever you go.
