FOOD & FUN IN THE PARK

Come together as a community for Food & Fun in the Park!

Saturday, August 14, 2021 11:30 AM - 1:00 PM

ABOUT FOOD & FUN IN THE PARK

Food and Fun in the Park is Feeding Laramie Valley's (FLV) annual fun & free community event that celebrates and shares fresh, healthy food. This year we will be spread across LaBonte Park and will be encouraging masks for unvaccinated individuals to ensure a fun and safe event.

Enjoy a delicious picnic lunch, including a Filipino noodle dish (Pancit) and a Thai lettuce wrap (Laab Gai), refresh with a yummy popsicle, tour FLV's gardens, partake in various scavenger hunts, make your way through an obstacle course, pop a thousand bubbles, and interact with the llamas of Coral Dawn!

Bring your own blankets or a couple of chairs so you can spread out across the park to enjoy your lunch and help us maintain social distancing. Tables and chairs, along with a designated parking area, will be available for elders and people with mobility issues. We ask that all others please park on the street. Portable restrooms will be present around the park.

Donations will be accepted at the event to help with providing quality food year-round to community members facing food insecurity in Albany County, WY.

This Year's Activities:

  • Scavenger hunts - Come enjoy two different scavenger hunts, one tailored for younger children and one for older children and adults. This year’s scavenging revolves around a take-home item to nurture through the fall and interacting with our updated sensory garden.

  • Obstacle course - Back by popular demand, this year’s course will incorporate natural features of the park as well as other items. Volunteer coaches will be present.

  • Bubble station - Jump and pop bubbles until your heart's content!

To help keep each other healthy and safe, we require all attendees, volunteers, and staff adhere to the following CDC guidelines:

  • Face coverings are required for unvaccinated individuals aged 2 years and older when standing in line or within a 6-foot radius. You may pick up a face covering from one of our friendly staff if you do not have one.

  • Use hand-washing stations and use hand sanitizer often.

  • If you are feeling sick or are showing symptoms of Covid-19, or if you are unvaccinated and have come into contact with someone ill with Covid-19, we ask that you not attend the 2021 event.

FOOD & FUN SAFETY MEASURES

Feeding Laramie Valley is doing everything we can to ensure the safety of our attendees, staff and volunteers. See the steps we've taken to prevent the spread of Covid-19 during Food & Fun in the Park:

  • We have coordinated with the City of Laramie Parks and Recreation Department as well as the County Health Office to ensure the event has been designed to prevent the spread of Covid-19.

  • All staff and volunteers are either fully vaccinated or will be wearing masks.

  • The event is outdoors and spread out around LaBonte park to ensure social distancing.

  • Face coverings are required for anyone not vaccinated and attending the event. Those who do not have a mask may request one from our staff.

  • Each station will have disinfectant spray available. Areas will be sprayed down after individual use.

  • Lunch will be handed out in pre-boxed, to-go containers. Participants are encouraged to eat in the park as long as they maintain social distancing. Anyone is welcome to come just for the free meal and eat in the comfort of their home.

  • Any staff or volunteers handling the food containers will be wearing masks and gloves.

  • Objects or items that are commonly touched will be wiped down with disinfectant after each use.

  • We will have three bathrooms available for public use. Hand sanitizer will be inside each bathroom. Two hand washing stations will be situated near the bathrooms for public use. Participants are encouraged to use these often.

  • We will be monitoring the event and encouraging social distancing.
