A Unique Way to Celebrate During Challenging Times

at Food & Fun in the Park

Saturday August 8, 2020 11:30 AM - 1:00 PM

Food and Fun in the Park is Feeding Laramie Valley's (FLV) annual fun & free community event that celebrates and shares fresh healthy food. This year we will be spread across LaBonte Park and will be requiring masks to ensure a fun and safe event by maintaining social distancing.

Enjoy a delicious picnic lunch, tour FLV's gardens, win prizes at our scavenger hunt and obstacle course, participate in our Community Scrapbook Project, pop a thousand bubbles, and interact with the llamas of Coral Dawn!

Bring your own blankets or a couple of chairs so you can spread out across the park to enjoy your lunch and help us maintain social distancing. Tables and chairs will be available for elders and people with mobility issues, a parking area will be set aside near the FLV building, as well. We ask that all others please park on the street. Portable restrooms will be available around the park.

Donations will be accepted at the event to help with providing quality food year-round to people facing food insecurity in Albany County, WY.

To help keep each other healthy and safe, we require all attendees, volunteers, and staff adhere to the following guidelines:

  • Face coverings are required for all adults and children 10 and older when standing in line and when 6-foot distancing cannot be maintained. You may pick up a face covering from one of our friendly staff if you do not have one.

  • Group sizes of people are limited to 6, either standing or sitting, and are preferably from the same household.

  • Maintain a minimum distance of 6 feet between non-associated individuals or groups at all times.

  • Use hand-washing stations and use hand sanitizer often.

  • Every adult will be given a small bottle of hand sanitizer on arrival and hand-washing stations will be situated around the park.

Feeding Laramie Valley is doing everything we can to ensure the safety of our attendees, staff and volunteers. See the steps we've taken to prevent the spread of Covid-19 during Food & Fun in the Park:

  • We have coordinated with the City of Laramie Parks and Recreation Department as well as the County Health Office to ensure the event has been designed to prevent the spread of Covid-19.

  • All staff and volunteers are being screened prior to the event (temperature checks and screening questions).

  • The event is outdoors and spread out around LaBonte park to ensure social distancing.

  • Face coverings are required for anyone attending the event. Those who do not have a mask may request one from our staff. Anyone refusing to wear a mask will be asked to leave.

  • Every adult will be given a small bottle of hand sanitizer for personal use.

  • Each station will have disinfectant spray available. Areas will be sprayed down after individual use.

  • Lunch will be handed out in pre-boxed, to-go containers. Participants are encouraged to eat in the park as long as they maintain social distancing. Anyone is welcome to come just for the free meal and eat in the comfort of their home.

  • Any staff of volunteers handling the food and food containers will be wearing masks and gloves.

  • Each activity is designed for individual use. Objects or items that are commonly touched will be wiped down with disinfectant after each use.

  • We will have three bathrooms available for public use. Handsanitizer will be inside each bathroom. Two handwashing stations will be situated near the bathrooms for public use. Participants are encouraged to use these often.

  • We will be monitoring the event to enforce facecoverings and social distancing. We will continually keep a count of how manty people are attending the event. Keeping the number below 250, as mandated by the County Health Office.

  • Activities

    • Scavenger Hunt will be touchless. There will be no physical collection of any items.

    • Obstacle course will be touchless. It will incorporate natural features of the park as well as other items. Participants will go one at a time with no grouping. Volunteer coaches will be present.

    • Bubble station will be touchless. Children are encouraged to chase and pop as many bubbles as they can.

    • Activity packets will be given to individual children to take home.

    • Community Scrapbooking – Our scrapbooking station will have no more than 2 participants at a time. We will provide some supplies for participants to complete their scrapbook page at home or elsewhere around the park as needed.

    • Llamas: Participants must wash or sanitize their hands before and after petting llamas. Only one person at a time may pet the llamas. There will be a line to pet the llamas and social distancing will be monitored by a staff member.

  • Prizes: All prizes given out during the activities will be sanitized and stored in plastic totes. Prize options will be displayed on a table and the participant will point to which one they would like. Volunteers/staff will the use gloves to retrieve the sanitized prize out of the tote for the participant.
